VSO blogging in Cameroon

Bamenda Boy

Just a quick few links – it turns out that there are a couple of new VSO bloggers in Cameroon.

First off is Eric, who works out of nearby Santa and is one of the longer serving volunteers here. I am not sure how he slipped through my  blog net but here he is.

Secondly is Barbara, on a six week stop here funded by the Welsh Assembly.  Go to her blog here, scroll down and on the right you’ll even see a small pic of our Friday Dreamland get togethers.  I’m hiding in the back.

Apologies to Barbara, when we first met she told me that she had Googled “volunteering in Cameroon” before her departure.  What she found nearly put her off.  I very nearly didn’t admit that it was me who had written it.  In my defence it was written when I wasn’t having a great time.  It’s all much better now.

No mention of VSO blogs wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Emma in Cameroon’s far North.

Finally, the picture above was snapped yesterday during a walk around town with new Kiva volunteer Jen.

Our community, both offline and online is growing.

I am trying to catalogue all the Cameroon English language blogs, so if there are any missing from the right hand side of this page then let me know.

This is perfect. More blogs and pictures from the Bamenda area. Merci beaucoup. Have a happy Sunday. :)

Don’t apologise for telling the truth. The better prepared folk are – the more they’ll enjoy?

Another chime from me. I caught up on looking at your flickr photos. The one called ‘market veggies’ is too cool…it got me hungry for some fresh market produce…Bamenda-style.

Glad you’re happy Bamenda Babe – I think you are going to be my toughest audience. I’m not sure I’ll ever love this place as much as you do – but i don’t want to be hard on it.

    Things are getting better.

Nick – the truth is subjective and changes. I am only telling you how I feel at a certain moment. It can still offend and I am very aware of whinging.

It may be an honest emotion but there’s a limit to how long anyone wants to hear it.

I also know that if someone came to my home town and slated it I’d just want them to leave.

But fair point too – there’s a balance there.
